𝑆𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑒 was born in Paris, France— to be specific, in Montmartre, the heart of bohemian culture. She grew up with bohemian parents, her father was a starving artist (a painter and sometimes musician), while her mother was a dancer. They taught young Satine about hard work and performing in the arts in her youth, but it was mostly her father who did the teaching, since she lost her mother at a very young age. Her early life revolved around art and being a true bohemian, as she knew that making art and hard work was her father’s way of living. She began to sing in the streets for money, do some acting in small theater companies, model for painters, along with dancing in all forms. She and her father were poor artists, but they both lived with what they could despite the hard times they faced. She suffered in that life, but she kept her head up and kept working for years. She sang all day in street corners for pennies, faked sob stories, sometimes danced, anything to bring food and help out her only family, her father.At the tender age of 13, she met Harold Zidler, and a few years later, she joined his famous Moulin Rouge. She began as a chorus girl, then to opening the show with the other girls, and eventually had her own number. She worked to give her father as much as she could, but shortly after that, her father got sick and unfortunately passed away, leaving her an orphan in that place. The other dancers quickly comforted the young girl in her loneliness, and they became her only family, and so she never left the Moulin Rouge. When she became old enough, Zidler made her the most desired courtesan in all of Montmartre to keep the club standing and thriving. Satine let him use her like this, as she learned to love the people who were forced to stay in that place as well, to keep them away from the streets. With what her parents taught her at a young age, she worked hard to provide to the club and have her head up, no matter how hard it was. She worked for years in that place, dancing and singing and selling herself, as she learned through the years that the Moulin Rouge wasn’t like it seemed...

DURING THE BOHEMIAN REVOLUTION ㅤ ——— ㅤ satine is the star of the famous nightclub the moulin rouge. she is the most desired woman in all of paris, and the most talented. though she seems tough and independent, she must sell herself around to keep the club standing, causing her to question her worth. she must do what she's told. SATINE LIVES AND FINDS A NEW LIFE ㅤ ——— ㅤ satine isn't forced to be a prostitute, but she could still be a famous performer. thanks to modern technology, she will also live (unless we decide overwise). very flexible with the possibilities here. i have plenty of ideas regarding modern!satine, including different faceclaims and headcanons. GHOST AU : SATINE'S DEATH IS FOLLOWED BY A VISIT FROM A LINGERING SPIRIT ㅤ ——— ㅤ personally, i am a fan of this AU but i haven't been given the chance to write it. satine wants her story to be told by the lover she left behind, who she visits at random nights to talk and try to move on from the pain they both felt from her departure. ~~yes i can write ghosts and supernatural stuff. MOTHER AU : SATINE HAS A 3-YEAR OLD CHILD, HE WILL HEAR HER STORY ㅤ ——— ㅤ another favorite AU. alexandre, an orphan who hangs out backstage at the club, who lives amongst the dancers, doesn't know about the truth about the woman who runs the place. he will grow up believing a dresser is his mother, until the composer tells him a very important story. christian being the father is also a possibility, this is based on an early draft storyline for the movie that i love. VFD ADULT : SATINE IS A VOLUNTEER. A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS AU ㅤ ——— ㅤsatine joins the volunteer fire department. she is trained in literary and fighting skills to help put out the fires of the world. she works at the moulin rouge to keep her eyes on enemies who travel there. the underground tunnels and telegrams are her way of communicating with other volunteers. she was also considered a possible guardian for the baudelaire, they were due to paris before her own death. ROYALTY/FAIRYTALE : SATINE AS A BEAUTFUL PRINCESS. MAGIC ENCOURAGED ㅤ ——— ㅤ satine is a princess, perhaps other moulin rouge characters would be royal servants. anyway, satine is a bit more naive in this AU, but she would be a very smart, feels the pressure of becoming the queen on the kingdom. she falls in love with a poor boy and they sneak around to see each other. CROSSOVERS : ㅤ ㅤ ANY MUSICAL OR HISTORICAL FANDOMS TO INTERACT ㅤ ——— ㅤ satine needs friends. i am welcomed to any fun crossovers, i mostly look for smaller fandoms that i might see satine interacting in, but i promise i am open to anything! i mean anything, look at this mess.
